The Yoga Guide was one of my favorite articles to write. The process for writing it—not unlike my other works—involved research, organizing an outline, and reviewing local venues.
In the introduction I touch briefly on the history and origins of yoga, and summarize the content of the guide. To organize the 14 different styles of yoga in the body of the article I group similar styles in categories of likeness, in relation to the reader’s personal habits or objective. Within the various categories I include a broad summary of the overarching intended purpose, and then a more specific ideology in regard to each individual yoga style. I then researched a number of yoga studios to choose five or six venues to suggest per category. My method in choosing the best fit for each category included researching reviews, visiting venue, contacting studio, and comparing studio philosophy and classes offered.
